Budjerah Marries Longtime Partner Sophie Moore

Budjerah recently married his longtime partner, Sophie Moore, in a "secret" ceremony.

You might not know it by looking at Budjerah’s social media profiles, but the ARIA Award-winning artist has gotten married.

Vogue Australia has shared photos of the Therapy singer’s wedding to his longtime partner, Sophie Slabb (née Moore). Plus, in an interview with The Australian earlier this month, Budjerah opened up about the pair’s “secret wedding.”

The couple married at a semi-formal garden party on a fifth-generation cattle property in the Tweed Coast hinterland, Vogue Australia reports.

“I remember seeing Sophie walk down the aisle, and everyone holding up sparklers and making a spirit tunnel for us as we left the reception,” Budjerah told the publication. “It was done, and we were married.”

Budjerah and Sophie married ahead of the release of the singer’s forthcoming debut album, Gentleman, scheduled to drop next Friday (24 July).

Earlier this month, he released the single Even At My Worst, which was written by acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren (Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion), and produced by Grammy Award-winning Om’Mas Keith (Frank Ocean, John Legend, Jay-Z), the latter of whom produced the album.

“I was very lucky to meet one of my songwriting heroes, Diane Warren, at her studios in Los Angeles,” Budjerah said.

“She gave me the song, and it really took me back to when I started writing myself, and my parents were supporting me the whole way. The lyrics reflected the gratitude I wanted to express to them for always supporting me. So, this is my gratitude song.”

The debut album from Budjerah is a long time coming. It arrives after he broke through with the 2024 single Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense and the massive hit Therapy, which has amassed over 18 million streams on Spotify and gone Platinum in Australia.

Gentleman contains the singles Could I Be, Want You Back, and the title track. It captures where the singer is now, while honouring the pop and R&B music of his childhood. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.
