One of Melbourne's most-loved venues has been sold and will now form part of a new venue.
Dubbed Brunswick Ballroom, the venue will take over the Metropolis House space on Sydney Road incorporating the popular The Spotted Mallard, which went up for sale in May last year.
The venue is the work of former Live Performance Australia president Andrew Kay AM and actor and musician Will Ewing.
Mary Mihelakos, who was recently inducted into the Music Victoria Hall Of Fame, joins the venue as music booker, while Emma Calverley joins as comedy producer, Liza McLean will curate the cabaret line-up, and Tori Bicknell takes on the director of food and beverage role.
“After a year of doom, gloom and significant hardship for many in our live performance industry, we are thrilled to have been able create a dynamic new home for our performing artists and audiences to enjoy," said Kay.

"The Brunswick Ballroom will be a venue which celebrates the best of live music, cabaret and comedy plus of course, wonderful food and wine. This distinctive venue will present the best Melbourne, Australia and the world has to offer across the full range of live performance genres.
"Whether it is a live band, a comedian, a classical pianist or a major cabaret star they will all find a new home at the Brunswick Ballroom."
The venue will be open from 25 February with gigs from Tim Rogers, Ross Wilson, Kate Ceberano, Brian Cadd, Cool Sounds, Bitch Diesel, Jeff Martin and more locked in.
