“Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news.”
Britney Spears has revealed that she has suffered a miscarriage.
The global pop superstar took to Instagram to post the sad news, stating, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy.
"This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however we were overly excited to share the good news.
"Our love for eachother is our strength, we will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of you support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment."
Spears announced in April that she was expecting her third child and first with her partner, Sam Asghari.
The announcement of the pregnancy came just months after a judge ended a conservatorship that had control over her life and finances. It saw her father removed from power and she is now allowed to make her own financial, medical and personal decisions.

She also recently announced that she'll be working on a tell-all memoir, inking a $US15 million “landmark deal” with publishing house Simon & Schuster.
Spears signed with Simon & Schuster following a bidding war, with an insider stating “the deal is one of the biggest of all time, behind the Obamas”.
