Much like the rest of Brisbane, various venues in the city were affected by last week’s wild weather and flooding, basement venue Crowbar was hit hard and only just returning to normal programming.
With water gushing through both entrances during the storms, the venue was left with a damaging amount of water inside.
“[It] left us looking like The Valley Pool with a foot of water to get out of the venue,” venue director Trad Nathan told theMusic.com.au.
“We got slight water damage on some of the stage, we lost a TV and the lighting controls, but the PA was fine.
“At about 7pm Thursday a whole army of Crowbar staff and supporters turned up from awesome bands like Malakyte, and we managed to get the whole place cleaned and dry over the duration of that night...we're still working on cleaning up our two other levels, the new bar we're hoping to get open early 2015 and the offices upstairs.”
The downstairs bandroom is now back up and running, with Reign Havok’s show on Nov 27 the only date rescheduled.
Still repairing some of the damage, the venue isn’t looking for charity, but any funds raised via their merch store will go towards rebuilding it to a better state than before.
