Brisbane music venue The Tempo Hotel has announced this afternoon that it will be closing its doors indefinitely due to restrictions relating to a council music permit.
In a brief statement the venue managers wrote, “Due to restrictions on the amplified music permit imposed by council the hotel will be closed for renovation until resolution.”
The hotel team added that they hoped “to be back soon”.
This evening theMusic.com.au has been unable to get further comment from the venue, but a source close to the hotel alleges that it has passed into receivership.
The council has also been approached for comment.

Located in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, the venue is a regular live music venue and a prominent part of the annual BIGSOUND festival and conference, which is considered one of the premier events on the contemporary music industry's calendar.
Under the Amplified Music Venues Local Law 2006, live music venues in core areas around Brisbane city and Fortitude Valley require a permit to operate, designed "to regulate noise from amplified music", according to Brisbane City Council.
Council have also indicated that they have the ability to "impose conditions on the Amplified Music Venue Permit.”
The Tempo Hotel has gigs booked for In Hearts Wake, Residual, Allday, Elliot The Bull, Joelistics amongst others as far into the future as the end of July. These shows may now be looking for new venues if the situation is not resolved.
