Get along to West End this Thursday to support the cause

Beloved West End venue The Bearded Lady is putting on its charity hat this week, staging a fundraising gig, "Born From Music", in service of aiding the APS Birth Centre in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The gig is the brainchild of local student midwife and musician Frances Boothroyd, better known by her stage moniker Tawny, who will be volunteering at the centre for five weeks early next year.

The funds being raised are not for her — she's paying her own way there — but for the APS Birth Centre itself so it is better able to continue its work of providing cleaner and safer birthing conditions for the women and babies of Nepal.

Tawny has conscripted the talents of fellow songstresses Maja and Georgia Rose to provide support, making the entire affair a high-value evening of high-quality Australian tunes set among one of Brisbane's best-regarded and most intimate live venues.

The gig kicks off from 7.30pm this Thursday, 3 November. Entry is $10 at the door, with all proceeds being forwarded to the APS Birth Centre.

If you're physically unable to make it along to the show but are keen to support the cause nonetheless, you can do so here.
