First release comes from Sydney duo Alba

New boutique dance label Plastic World has launched today as the brainchild of Astral People co-owner Vic Edirisinghe and James McInnes, formerly of Future Classic.

Another imprint based on the 'singles club' model, the label will focus on 12-inch vinyl releases from local artists.

Label manager Edirisinghe told theMusic.com.au today that they are focusing on singles initially which they will look to push the releases to international market.

“Our distribution focus will be internationally,” he said, “and I guess the market is a lot bigger over there for the music we intend to push… and hopefully aid them in gaining the interests from bigger labels that are based overseas.”
