Huge second announcement for the Melbourne event

The Mushroom Group's father-son executives Michael and Matt Gudinski appear on stage together this year at Melbourne's Face The Music conference, which also added Vice Music's General Manager Jamie Farkas in today's massive second announcement.

Arguably the Australian music industry's top 'power family' Michael was judged to be last year's most powerful industry person in the AMID Power 50 last year, and was ranked second this year, with Matt at 19. It is believed that this will be the first time father and son appear will appear at a conference together, they are expected to reflect on the history of the company and its future in its 40th anniversary year.

Farkas, who is appearing in conjunction with Melbourne Music Week, will deliver a keynote on “what it means to be a truly global artist,” having joined VICE in 2003 at the launch of their Vice Music division. In her role she's developed a number of booking, sponsorship and label opportunities for artists such as The Streets, Justice, Snoop Lion and Death Form Above 1979.

Also announced today is the 'Discovery' presentation and Q&A session to be hosted by Spotify's Rene Chambers. As well as highlighting the marketing opportunities of streaming services, it also promises to address the controversy surrounding artist and label royalties under the model.

They join the first announcement of speakers, which included ARIA and PPCA CEO Dan Rosen, Gotye and Cold Chisel co-manager John Watson and Universal executive Peter Karpin.

The conference, which is presented by The Music, will take place Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November at Arts Centre Melbourne. Tickets are now on sale from facethemusic.org.au.
