Bon Iver – the brainchild of singer/songwriter and producer Justin Vernon – will release his new album, SABLE, fABLE, this Friday (11 April), and to celebrate, he’s plotted some early listening parties and community events this week. And, to local fans’ delight, Australia is included.
Fans will be able to hear the record in its entirety at a global series of location-specific outdoor listening events. For Australian fans, those sessions will occur from 4 – 7 pm local time tomorrow – Wednesday, 9 April.
The events are happening as part of the singer’s fABLE sPACEs, which aim to foster moments of connection through personal listening experiences. fABLE sPACEs will bring the album to outdoor settings chosen by Bon Iver and fans.

All you need to do is download the app, which uses location-based technology and crowdsourcing. Upon arriving at the geographically defined destinations, fans will be able to unlock a full preview of SABLE, fABLE via their smartphones. Fans will then get to hear the album on repeat for three hours.
The events build upon the community-driven listening experiences for his previous albums, 22, A Million’s mural-based boombox listening parties, and i,i’s record store and photobooth events.
SABLE, fABLE is Bon Iver’s first album in six years—you can pre-order/pre-save it here. The Australian listening parties will take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle, Perth, and Fremantle. You can find the exact locations below.
In February and March 2023, Bon Iver played in some of the largest venues across the country in a tour that marked his first national tour since 2009 and first shows since his performance in Sydney as part of Vivid LIVE in 2016.
Reviewing his show at Brisbane’s Riverstage in March 2023, The Music’s Liv Dunford declared, “Sometimes all you need is an acoustic, a story, and a voice. And in Vernon’s case, the unique and uncanny ability to harness raw emotion and present it in a way that punctures deep into the soul.”
