The Easter long weekend is rapidly approaching, which means that this year's edition of Bluesfest is under three weeks away.
The rock and roll, soul, jazz and R&B four-day event in Byron Bay has unveiled the timetable ahead of time, and with over 50 acts on the bill, there will inevitably be some clashes and difficult decisions to make.
Do you want to see Joe Bonamassa and Counting Crows on Saturday, 8 April? That’s one of the biggest clashes, but you can still see half an hour of Counting Crows before Bonamassa starts his set at 10:15 pm. The queen of blues, Mavis Staples, plays earlier in the day on Thursday, 6 April, with her set starting at 4:30 pm and finishing an hour later.
On the Thursday and Friday, Elvis Costello & The Imposters close the Mojo stage, but these artists are playing at the same time: Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, The Black Sorrows and Larkin Poe (Thursday), while on Friday, Gang Of Youths, Rateliff, and St Paul & The Broken Bones are either all playing at the same time, or in the case of St Paul, ending just 15 minutes before the headliner takes the stage.
It’s a massive line-up with tons to see and do, with four stages hosting music: the Crossroads, Mojo, Delta and Juke Joint stages. Check out the full timetable below.
Festival Director Peter Noble commented about this year’s line-up: "With this Bluesfest announcement for Bluesfest 2023, our 34th event, it is becoming clear that the return of international live artists mixed with great Aussie and Kiwi talent will be seen for the first time in Australia at the level it was before the COVID years.
“The line-up is one that I am immensely proud of, and 2023 is becoming one of the great Bluesfests. Thank you so much, everyone, for your support through the hard years; please now come and join us for the celebration."
Byron Events Farm will host Bluesfest from Thursday the 6th to Monday the 10th of April 2023, with a wide range of ticketing and camping options for each festival attendee.
