Bluesfest's First 2020 Announce Drops Tomorrow; Here's Who We Think Will Be On The Line-up

Not long to go!

It feels like this year's Byron Bay Bluesfest wrapped up yesterday but just like that, it's time for the much-loved festival to start unveiling its 2020 line-up.

Bluesfest has shared that the first of next year's line-up will be revealed at 6.45am tomorrow so it's now the perfect time to put together the list of who we think could be joining the bill in 2020.

UPDATE: BLUESFEST REVEAL FIRST LINE-UP ANNOUNCE FOR 2020

Paul Simon

The American singer-songwriter announced early last year that he'd be retiring from touring. Simon's since chucked a few extra shows onto his farewell run and we've got our hopes up that we'll get to call him Al one last time. Simon co-headlined the festival back in 2013 - alongside Robert Plant no less - so we reckon there's a solid chance this could be his Aus goodbye.

Dead & Company

With John Mayer in the country back in March for his solo tour, we reckon he could make another stop Down Under for next year's festival to perform with Dead & Company. The supergroup, which is made up of Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, plus Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti, would be a Bluesfest set for the history books.

Kacey Musgraves

Musgraves has had quite the time since the release of her album Golden Hour, which you know, WON ALBUM OF THE YEAR AT THE GRAMMYS! She toured Australia in May this year but we're hoping Musgraves will reappear at Bluesfest to bring us such golden moments as this one at Coachella.

Jeff Lynne's ELO

"Hey there, Mr Jeff Lynne guy..." Ok, so it's not quite as catchy as Mr Blue Sky but we think it can still work, especially if Jeff Lynne's ELO makes a Bluesfest 2020 appearance.

Kesha

US artist Kesha was due to perform at Bluesfest in 2018 but had to pull out due to a knee injury. We're more than ready for a make-good appearance. Read our 2018 interview with Kesha here.

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band are currently making their way around the US as part of their Final Tour. They've extended the run stateside already but there's nothing scheduled following their Chicago show in October so either they'll be enjoying their retirement on a lovely tropical island or heading to Bluesfest.

Jessica Mauboy

Have you heard Jessica Mauboy's incredible voice? Now, imagine that catching a breeze and drifting out of a Bluesfest tent on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Yeah, we want her on the bill too.

ZZ Top

The one and only ZZ Top are currently enjoying their 50th anniversary run throughout the US but as of yet there are no Australian celebrations planned. We're just saying that Bluesfest would be a hell of a party...

Lil Nas X

Ok, go with us on this one. Lil Nas X has broken a stack of records with his mega-hit Old Town Road and quite frankly, we'd really like to see a tent of people wearing cowboy hats and singing along. And we wouldn't be mad if Billy Ray Cyrus turned up for his part too.

Boy & Bear

Boy & Bear are back in a big way following some serious health issues for frontman Dave Hosking that stopped them from touring the past few years. The group performed at Bluesfest 2015 so we reckon it'll be a welcome return.

Dixie Chicks

Dixie Chicks copped it pretty hard for their political standings in the early 2000's but now, nearly 15 years on from their highly publicised Taking The Long Way album, their voices are more important than ever. They don't have any 2020 dates planned and we'd like to see them hit Aussie shores sooner rather than later.

John Butler Trio

Look, if John Butler or Ben Harper aren't there, is it even Bluesfest? Harper graced this year's line-up with his Innocent Criminals so we reckon it's time for Butler and his trio to return in 2020.

Van Morrison

Any Bluesfest is a marvellous night for a moon dance and we think it's time Van Morrison joined us for one.

Byron Bay Bluesfest will drop their first 2020 announce tomorrow morning. Keep an eye out for all the info and tell us below who you'd like to see on next year's line-up.
