“Despite his best attempts, the extensive hurdles in place due to COVID-19 have proved too difficult to overcome.”

Beloved Australian festival Blues On Broadbeach has announced one of its 2021 headliners, Tommy Emmanuel, has pulled out of this year’s event.

Organisers behind the Gold Coast festival, set to run from May 20-23, issued a statement saying that “despite his best attempts, the extensive hurdles in place due to COVID-19 have proved too difficult to overcome".

“However, we certainly hope that one year soon, the Aussie-born, American-based guitar icon will be able to make the long trip home and finally bring his unparalleled talents to Blues On Broadbeach,” they added.

Last week, the festival’s second artist announcement was revealed, with Wolfmother, CW Stoneking and more joining previously confirmed talent such as The Black Seeds and Christine Anu.
