The frontman will be joined by Hayden James and Odesza for two east-coast shows
Upstart West Australian festival Circo recently stuck it to the east coast with its announcement of a star-studded line up helmed by revered rockers Violent Soho. Now, the fledgling event has evened the score a little with the announcement of Melbourne and Sydney sideshows for festival acts Hayden James, Odesza and a DJ set from Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke.
The trio form an impressive regiment of revelry, with up-and-comer James previously having been called “the Barry White of EDM” and Seattle-based duo Odesza on a swift course to stardom following an appearance at Coachella last year. James is also currently wrapping a national tour with dance-rock darlings RÜFÜS, and is standing on the precipice of the release of his new single, following on from his well-received debut effort, Permission To Love.
This, of course, leaves us with the esteemed Mr Okereke. Kele recently released Heartbreaker, the follow-up EP to his well-received debut solo full-length The Boxer, but Bloc Party fans can take heart – there has been promised a selection of vintage tracks from his salad days in the band of indie trailblazers, which will provide an element of rock-flavoured balance to what he spins on the night.
Melbourne's side show will happen June 25 at 170 Russell, while Sydney will have its turn the following evening at The Metro.
