"We do have a great hope that things can be held together and, with a bit of luck, even improved (pained optimism, ha)."

Artist- and volunteer-run record store and performance space Black Wire Records have announced they'll be closing for the month of August, amidst some "bloody stressful" changes.

The beloved not-for-profit Sydney record label posted on their Facebook, "We are not closing. We have not quite yet been priced out of Sydney real estate by dial-a-picnic shops and pop-up-make-yr-own-miniature-hamburger initiatives.

"We do have a great hope that things can be held together and, with a bit of luck, even improved (pained optimism, ha). It will definitely be the end of one era though..."

The post was accompanied by a photo of a ship called 'No Worries' sinking.

Black Wire have hosted a slew of local punk and hardcore acts in the past, from the likes of HANNAHBAND, Bad//Dreems, The Smith Street Band's Wil Wagner, US act Meridian, Ted Danson With Wolves and Camp Cope.

The post finishes, albeit quite wearily, "Lots of things planned and great shows booked in for the rest of the year so, yep, no worries! (sigh)".
