'We Were Inspired To Get Loud': Silversun Pickups On 'Tenterhooks' & Their Long-Awaited Return To Australia

Black Rheno Drop New Music Video For 'Lock The Gate'

Those are some nice riffs ya got there, son.

Those are some nice riffs ya got there, son.

The riff-heavy boys in Sydney's Black Rheno, what with their groovy sludge-loving sound, have been turning countless heads over the past year. This is all in part to the band touring all over Australia within the last 12 months, getting showcased at the prestigious South By South West Music Festival back in March, releasing a fuckin' great music video for 'No Time For Numb Nuts', and in a simple yet often hard to achieve move, just putting out a really solid EP in the form of 2016's beastly 'Let's Start A Cult'.

Well, that, and the fact they also have one of the most energetic studio jam videos I've ever seen.

All of these factors work in tandem and are paying off more and more for the local trio as time goes on; something that their recently released film clip for the groovy stomping tune of 'Lock The Gate' also proves. With captured footage from Black Rheno's mightily loud set at this year's Dead of Winter Festival in Brisbane, which went down only a few weeks ago, it showcases the three-piece's devastating metal sound in the live setting. The video, filmed by Colin Cadell, was on the final night of a massive co-headline tour they embarked on with their mates in Melbourne's Hadal Maw for the pair's joint 'Gospel Of Heavy' tour.

Check out the music video as well as the madness from the night below.

Of course, there is never any rest for the wicked. You can catch Black Rheno on a massive national tour this October - the fittingly dubbed 'Campaign For Musical Destruction' - which also features Napalm Death, Brujeria and Lock Up, all courtesy of the metal-loving folks at Soundworks Touring.
