Bilal Announces First Ever Australian Tour

The acclaimed neo-soul singer finally visits us to play two shows.

The neo-soul of Bilal first blew minds across the world way back in 2001 when he released his killer debut LP First Born Second, featuring production and performances from the likes of J Dillsa, Dr Dre, Mos Def and Common. He went very, very quiet for a long time after that record, he made a follow up called Love For Sale, but Interscope - his label at the time - refused to release it.

He finally got a new record on the shelves in 2010, nine years after his debut, with Airtight's Revenge showing the inventive (and now independent) musician, producer and vocalist still had plenty to offer. The record received huge acclaim, Bilal compared to the likes of Sly Stone, Prince, Raphael Saadiq and Erykah Badu, and Bilal was well and truly back in action.

Last week he released his third album proper, A Love Surreal, and now he's announced he'll be touring Australia in support of it for the very first time this May. The dates are as follows and tickets are on sale from Friday morning.

Friday 3 May – The Hi-Fi, Melbourne
Saturday 4 May – The Hi-Fi, Sydney
