The Perth indie-rockers are ramping up to the release of their keenly awaited EP

More Big Orange More Big Orange

West Australian indie quintet Big Orange release their new single, Famous, this Thursday, and have lined up a special launch show — as well as a couple of other performances — at the end of the month.

Before they hit the stage, though, we've got a tasty li'l embed of the fresh tune here for you to enjoy, wrapping your ears around the next slice of goodness to come from their eagerly awaited EP, due out soon.

According to a release from the band, "Famous is a wink and a nod to the wise and the weary; an anthem for the nihilists and the navel gazers; an ironic hymn for a culture so desperate for irony ... [w]rapped and delivered with all the instant gratification of a power-pop slam-dunk".

"Famous is about people wanting to be famous for the sake of it, and willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen," songwriter Daniel Davis explained in a statement.

The tune comes on the heels of fellow singles and EP inclusions Streets and Guiding Star, and should serve to sate their growing fan base just a little longer as we await the arrival of their extended player in the near future.

Big Orange will team up with psych-pop troubadour Michael Savage for their double single launch — the latter ushering out his new piece Mike Love at the same time — at Mojo's Bar, Fremantle, on Saturday 24 June. They'll be supported by Moana, Thee Gold Blooms and The Limbs.

Before that show, the band are actually stepping out as part of RTRFM's Fremantle Winter Music Festival on Saturday 17 June, at the Swan Hotel, while on the other side they'll be at the Hidden Treasures Winter Music Series at The National Hotel on Thursday 20 July.
