This will make our trans-tasman friends very happy
The Big Day Out festival has today confirmed a five-year deal to return to our neighbouring nation New Zealand in 2014, a move which was first announced back in April.
According to the NZ Herald, the Auckland Council has given organisers the approval to hold the event at Western Springs on Friday 17 January. They've been given go ahead for an event capacity of 50,000 patrons.
This news was predicted a few months back, with the festival's NZ promoter Campbell Smith admitting the event would setup camp at its new home of Western Springs in 2014, after the festival was but on the backburner this year. BDO used to be held at Penrose's Mt Smart Stadium.
Of the impending confirmation, Auckland Mayor Len Brown previously said, "[Big Day Out's return would] bring this significant music and culture event right into the city for residents and the thousands of visitors it draws to Auckland.”
