American soul cult favourite Bettye LaVette celebrates 50 years in the music industry this year and does so with the release of her stunning new record Thankful N' Thoughtful, which hits stores this Friday through ANTI-.

The record sees LaVette tackling great songs from throughout the past half-century, delving into tracks from Tom Waits to Gnarls Barkley to The Black Keys, Sly Stone, The Pogues, Neil Young and Bob Dylan, to name but a few.

Her knack for interpreting popular songs and injecting them with her own inimitable sense of soul has been well established; 2005's I've Got My Own Hell To Raise, 2007's The Scene Of The Crime and 2010's Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook each proving her power as a performer.
