Kiwi collaborators Stella Rose Bennett, who is known as BENEE, and Josh Fountain have joined the 1,000,000,000 List for reaching 1 billion plays on her song Supalonely.

The 2019 alt-pop lockdown anthem was co-written alongside Brendan Rice and Canadian Jenna Andrews and features New York singer-songwriter Gus Dapperton.

The track is a sunny break-up song, an ode to post love blues and acted as a highlight track from BENEE's second EP, Stella & Steve.

Supalonely quickly became a global lockdown anthem, reaching significant notoriety during high-level lockdowns across 2020, with its corresponding dance challenge going viral on TikTok, including performances from J-Lo and Maddison Beer.

"To say that Supalonely came along at just the right time is an understatement. In a locked-down world it struck a chord around the globe just as we all needed a tune like this the most," says Ant Healey, APRA AMCOS NZ Head of Operations.

"I have no doubt that this is just the launchpad for more global hits from both Stella and Josh, both super talented writers whom we are very proud to have as part of the APRA AMCOS team."
