Sydney alt. rock band, Bayonets For Legs are releasing their second EP, The Coloured Air (MGM/Green Media) on October 7. To celebrate the release, they are embarking on a 12 date national tour from September to November 2011.

The Coloured Air was recorded and produced by Dylan Adams (Sailmaker, Fait Accompli) and Damien Cullen (Bayonets' singer and guitarist). Tracking was split between Linear Studios and Stu Stu Studios throughout early 2011. Paul McKercher (Midnight Oil, You Am I, Pete Murray) was called upon for mixing duties, and mastering responsibilities fell to Michael Lynch (John Butler Trio, Something For Kate). The EP was funded by Jägermeister when the band won the 2010 installment of the Jäger Uprising competition run by legendary Sydney rock venue, The Annandale Hotel.

The Coloured Air sees Bayonets for Legs further sharpening their sound, giving nods to Alt-country and Indie-Rock influence. At its core is simple, solid songwriting, with contagiously fluid vocal melodies. These songs are driven by a solid rhythm section which compliments the distinct, upfront guitars. The guitars provide subtle flourishes and eerie undertones giving The Coloured Air a crisp aural aesthetic. The record also features collaborations with Sydney indie luminaries Nick Van Breda on backing vocals and Angus McDonald (Hailer) on keys.

Tracks from The Coloured Air are available for preview at on the band's Myspace, Unearthed, and Facebook pages.
