The British duo will don their whites to lay some phat beats during the cricket season, with more acts to be announced
If you were playing word-association, then 'cricket' and 'DJ' would probably not be anywhere near each other. But Cricket Australia is happily oblivious to this fact, having just announced that the world-renowned UK DJ duo Basement Jaxx will be the first of four headline acts to perform at this summer's Commonwealth Bank Series between Australia and Sri Lanka.
This is a first for the series, and it's hoped that the inclusion of some big live acts to the match schedule will help keep the good times rolling, both on and off the pitch. Fans are encouraged to dress up to get the party started and prizes will be given for the most impressive threads.
Simon Ratcliffe of Basement Jaxx had this to say about the upcoming gigs: “This would have been a hard gig to turn down when you know it's going to be cold and dark in UK! Plus I've never been to a cricket match so really looking forward to the experience.”
Well, you could definitely have worse reasons for mixing cricket and downlow DJ beats. Basement Jaxx will be appearing at the following Commonwealth Bank Series matches between Australia and Sri Lanka:
