Jimmy Barnes ProfileAussie legend Jimmy Barnes has asked anti-muslim groups to cease using his music during protests, after the groups were found to have played Cold Chisel’s Khe Sanh during recent rallies in Brisbane.
The 59-year-old frontman, who himself was born in Scotland, took to his Facebook to address the groups using his music during their protests to distance himself from them.
“It has come to my attention that certain groups of people have been using my voice, my songs as their anthems at rallies,” Barnes wrote.
If you look at my family you can see we are a multicultural family,” he said of his four children and wife, Jane, who was born in Thailand.
“Australia needs to stand up for Love and Tolerance in these modern times. None of these people represent me and I do not support them.”
Barnes’ management declined to comment when contacted by theMusic and they advised that the singer would also not be making further comments.
