Well, that didn't last long
The incendiary music career of Melburnian rapper and internet sensation Bangz will be brought to a premature close before the end of the year, it has been revealed.
Bangz will close the book on his life as a purveyor of mad rhymes with one final album, currently in the works, to punctuate a storied and colourful period of creative productivity that yielded at least one hit single and a highly publicised feud with US talk-show host Jimmy Fallon.
Breaking the news on social media this morning, Bangz didn't go into too much detail as to the whys and wherefores of his decision, instead simply choosing to inform his fans of his recording plans and ultimate exit (despite several cries of protest, like… 60%-70% of which we'll say are sincere).
I'm releasing my last Album this year n I'm quitting music.

And that's it. Just like that, the underdog hip-hopper from Australia's south - who came to international attention via a globally televised jab at his 2009 track Take U To Da Movies from Fallon, a reciprocal diss track and, at last, validation - is calling time on what was just becoming a truly entertaining shtick.

There aren't many details to share about his forthcoming album yet — although according to his Twitter page it'll be out on 13 December this year — so we can perhaps take at least a little solace in the knowledge that we've still got Bangz around for another few months before he hangs it up for good, so there's still time for Fallon to invite him on his show. If there could be any way to finish things with a bang(z, sorry), that would be it.
Mourn the loss with Bangz' cut Take U On A Date, which is somehow a totally different song to Take U To Da Movies.
