AirPlay looks to bring local music to Melbourne Airport this month.
If you find yourself at Melbourne Airport between Wednesday 14 November and Friday 16, you might be in for a treat as Music Victoria has today announced a partnership with the City of Melbourne for AirPlay, events that will see them bring music to the airport on two different stages during peak times on those days.
The initiative will see local acts like Mick Thomas' Roving Commission, Benny Walker, Francolin, and Vikingo De Jerez play shows outside Virgin's arrivals in the domestic terminal and PJ O'Brien's bar in the international terminal.
It's not a new concept, airports in cities across the world - most notably New Orleans, Austin and Memphis - have hosted music for a number of years now. Melbourne looks to continue to uphold its reputationm as a strong music city by following suit.
In a statement issued with the news today, Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan commended the project.

"Live music is one of our greatest assets, so it's appropriate that we are showing it off," he said. "We will also have the new 'Melbourne Music City' guide available to help visitors find their favourite styles of music.”
The shows will happen during peak passenger times, between 5pm and 8pm.
