Baker Boy, Courtney Barnett, Sampa The Great Big Winners At The Age Music Vic Awards

Baker Boy, real name Danzal Baker, was the big winner at last night's The Age Music Victoria Awards, taking home a huge four awards. 

Baker took out Best Song, Best Male Musician, Best Live Act and The Premier’s Prize for the Best Victorian Breakthrough Act of 2018, which scored him $5,000 in prize money. 

Courtney Barnett won the awards for Best Solo Artist, Best Female Musician and The Premier’s Prize for the Best Victorian Album of 2018, along with a $10,000 cash prize. Barnett donated the prize money for Best Female Musician to Girls Rock! Melbourne.

Sampa The Great

Sampa The Great took out Best Hip Hop Act and Best Soul, Funk, RnB Album Award for Birds & The BEE9, and shared an incredible performance of her track Bye River alongside a 16-person strong choir, which you can catch a snippet of here.

BIGSOUND buzz act Kaiit was awarded the The Archie Roach Foundation Award For Emerging Talent, along with a $2,000 cash grant, presented by Archie Roach himself, and while Camp Cope took out the public voted award for Best Band.

Molly Meldrum and Divinyls' frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett were inducted into The Age Music Victoria Hall Of Fame, with a touching tribute and speeches from Amphlett's cousin Little Pattie (Patricia Amphlett) and nephew Matt Forster, as well as a performance of Boys In Town from Killing Heidi's Ella Hooper and Dallas Frasca.
