"This guy is a full time operator."
Roy Molloy, "Alex Cameron's saxophonist and business partner" and now certified Good Samaritan has made headlines in the US after he heroically rescued a boy drowning at Rockaway Beach yesterday.
As reported by Pitchfork, Molloy spoke to a local CBS news crew after the incident and said hearing the child's parents screaming for help prompted him to jump from the rocks into the water. The boy was then brought to shore safely by a nearby surfer.
In the interview, Molloy said the boy "was floundering, drowning".
"I don't think he would have been able to get himself in... no way," he said.
Cameron has praised the efforts of Molloy on social media in a statement that reads, "Roy is probably not gonna talk about this so I will.
"Today he saved a heavy set boy in rough conditions at Rockaway Beach. Jumped in off the rocks and got to him before he drowned. Didn't think twice."
