The American heavy music festival, Sonic Temple, has announced the line-up for its 2026 events.

However impressive the line-up, starring headliners Tool, Bring Me The Horizon, Shinedown, and My Chemical Romance, is, what’s even more thrilling is seeing the number of Australian bands on the bill.

Sydney deathcore outfit Thy Art Is Murder will perform at the annual heavy music gathering on Thursday, 14 May, sharing the stage with the likes of Slaughter To Prevail and Whitechapel. Melbourne metalcore band Windwaker will also play on the Thursday, alongside Dayseeker, Magnolia Park, and others.

Thy Art Is Murder described the line-up as “Perhaps the heaviest line-up we’ve been a part of, see you there.” Windwaker expressed delight at making their US festival debut: “SONIC TEMPLE 🌧️🖤 we’ll see you in May 2026 for our North America festival debut.”

On Saturday, 16 May, Queensland’s The Amity Affliction, Perth’s Make Them Suffer, and Tasmania’s Alpha Wolf will share the stage on what seems to be the “metalcore stage” of the day, also featuring Architects, The Ghost Inside, and August Burns Red, among others.

On the closing day – Sunday, 17 May – Sydney’s Polaris and Melbourne’s Thornhill will warm up the crowd ahead of Electric Callboy’s massive slot.

Seeing seven Australian bands at a major US festival follows the recent Aussie takeovers of Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, and Download. Empire Of The Sun, Ocean Alley, Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, Spacey Jane, and Confidence Man performed at Austin City Limits earlier this month.

In June, Aussie DJ Dom Dolla headlined Bonnaroo in Tennessee. He was joined by fellow locals Dope Lemon, Ziggy Alberts, Royel Otis, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, the latter of whom performed across the festival’s three days.

Sonic Temple will run from 14-17 May at the Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Five stages are confirmed for the 2026 festival, with over 140 acts performing across four days. You can find tickets on Ticketmaster.
