Phil Jamieson ProfileLegendary rockers, Phil Jamieson, Chris Cheney, Tim Rogers, Tex Perkins and Kram have thrown their support behind calls for live music to make a return to Australian television.
The revered musicians touched on the subject while appearing on this week's The Music Podcast With Dave & Neil ahead of their very special tour of the country honouring the music of The Easybeats and Stevie Wright.
Jamieson, who is set to appear at the Countdown Live special this NYE, said he was unsure if the occasion is building up to a return of the iconic ABC show.
"It would be great to see live bands be able to perform on television in this country on free-to-air," Jamieson said.
While Kram added, "Anything to get live music on Australian TV again", Perkins said there is yet to be a music show in Australia that has raised the bar like Countdown did.

"Countdown, the original Countdown, it was, if I could use the term, a perfect storm," he said.
"Because it was perfect for the time.
"[Countdown Revolution] did not work. I don't know why. Recovery was the closest thing to Countdown."
Rumours of a Recovery reunion were brought up last year when the show celebrated its 20th anniversary.
While a CD/DVD box set was released last November, there is still no word on whether the '90s programme will make a return.
