Aussie Dance Legend Arrested At Airport; Accused Of Smuggling Ketamine Into Country

Police have accused a renowned Melbourne DJ and a venue promoter of swallowing a kilogram of ketamine and smuggling the drug into Australia after being arrested at Melbourne Airport last month. 

According to Fairfax, Aussie dance legend Kasey Taylor and nightclub figure Robert Oung were detained by Australia Border Force after trying to get through customs following a trip home from Asia and were taken to Alfred Hospital until the drug had passed. 

An Australian Federal Police spokeswoman alleges that Taylor and Oung swallowed about 500 grams of the drug.

Both men are expected to face charges and are scheduled to appear at the Magistrates Court in August. 

Taylor's career has spanned over two decades and he is widely considered one of Australia's biggest dance exports, as well as being known as one of the biggest DJ's in Melbourne during the '90s.

During that time, Taylor featured in a number of popular acts including Quench, with Sean Quinn & CJ Dolan and Our House.

The 44-year-old producer has played at a number of prominent Australian music festivals throughout his career including Future Music, Summadayze and the Rainbow Serpent Festival, while he recently performed at Indonesia's Eclipse Festival in March.

The news comes in the wake of police raids in two separate Melbourne nightclubs last month, where DJ Jason Kolbeck and venue managers, Chris Lytras and Paul Polito, were arrested on a string of drug charges.

It's been reported that Taylor was at one of the raided venues, The Railway Hotel, just last weekend.
