A string of high-profile Australian talent are set to head to Canberra tonight to address politicians on the state of the local music industry.

The Parliamentary Friends Of Australian Music event, taking place at the Queen's Terrace Cafe, will feature performances from Kasey Chambers, Ian Moss, All Our Exes Live In Texas and John Paul Young, as well as discussions by songwriters and performers about key issues such as protecting creators' rights, the value of copyright and the importance of local content.

It comes as talk around commercial radio stations and streaming services needing to play more Australian content heats up.

"This really does affect us and our careers," Crofts said, adding, "I don't know why you wouldn't have [quotas]."
