Aus Acts 'Should Be Collaborating With Asians'

Collaborations between Australian artists and popular Asian acts has been highlighted as a key strategy for local acts to crack an Asian audience.

During an Asian-market panel at today's ARIA Week Masterclass, Soulmanna Director Deb Fung said she'd like to see more acts - particularly pop stars - working together.

"It's time we had someone like Havana Brown working with Psy," she said.

"You've got to get some tracks with the local language as well... And not just Google Translator, but someone actually from that region."

Supporting slots were also raised as ways to cross-pollinate the audiences.

Much of the discussion, which included Pop Asia Producer Mark Cummins, Future Entertainment Director Brett Robinson and Artist Voice CEO Brett Murrihy, focused on the impact of K-Pop star Psy.

Sony Business Development Manager Gavin Parry admitted that he's, "laid the path here, he's made it acceptable."
