A$AP Rocky has fond memories of touring Australia, recently opening up about the wildest fan interaction he can recall from one of his shows, which took place in Perth.

The American rapper—real name Rakim Athelston Mayers—was interviewed by Elle Magazine a fortnight ago, making his way to the magazine’s front cover. However, a snippet from the interview is gaining traction online, particularly among Australian fans.

In 2013, A$AP Rocky was performing at the Origin New Year’s Eve festival in Perth when he spotted a fan dangling from the rafter at the top of the stage.

“I just stopped the show, and I just remember praying to myself, like, ‘God, please don’t let this dude fall,’” he said, adding: “Next thing you know, he was holding on for a little bit, then he just fell and dropped straight into the pit.”

A$AP Rocky recalled jumping down from the stage to make sure the fan was alright, and upon going to check on them, the fan said: “A$AP, I got some beats!”

The rapper remembered thinking, “What the fuck is wrong with you? Half dead, talking about how you got a beat, trying to give me a USB, how do you even… he couldn’t even walk; the hell is wrong with these kids?”

He concluded, “That was one of the craziest moments I had with a fan.”

You can watch the interview and the 2013 moment below.

A$AP Rocky is set to release a new album—his first in seven years—this year. However, updates about his first album since 2018’s The Testing have slowed.

Fans have heard four singles from the album, named Don’t Be Dumb: Highjack featuring Jessica Pratt, Tailor Swif, Ruby Rosary featuring J. Cole, and Pray4DaGang featuring KayCyy.

Don’t Be Dumb is also set to contain an all-star roster of producers, including Dean Blunt, Pharrell Williams, Mike Dean, Madlib, Metro Boomin, and The Alchemist, among others.
