More Disturbed More Disturbed

US metal veterans Disturbed were slammed by many for appearing on Aussie TV music contest The X Factor last night and though their performance is less than 24 hours old, the band have already been hit with a wave of response from fans, both positive and negative.

The Chicago-founded group performed their cover of Simon & Garfunkel's iconic track The Sound Of Silence and many accused frontman David Draiman of being well off-key at the beginning of the song.

"Thought he was very pitchy and didn't sing as well as some of the contestants… even though he said Paul Simon gave them thumbs up I think it destroyed a great song of Simon and Garfunkel," one user posted on The X Factor Facebook page, while another wrote, "Disgusted. Changed channels so didn't hear the end sorry but disappointed".

Disturbed's Facebook page was also hit with a few less-than-favourable comments, with one user writing, "That'll do me. You blokes have sold out completely. It's a rubbish song, sung on one of the most ridiculous shows on tv. Im out for good. I hope you have a successful pop career".

The performance didn't just garner negative reviews however, with many fans applauding the band for putting themselves in front of a mainstream audience.

"Hoping this gets some kids to listen to real music," a punter wrote online.

"By tonight I bet there's kids around Australia watching Down With The Sickness hearing metal for the first time on YouTube."
