Arlo Guthrie First Act Announced For Port Fairy

Tickets are on sale today.

More Arlo Guthrie Arlo Guthrie Profile

The Port Fairy Folk Festival have announced that they have secured Arlo Guthrie as one of the artists who will be performing at their event in 2013.

The 65-year-old folk singer is one of the world's most renowned protest singers, taking after his father - the legendary Woody Guthrie - and rose to prominence late in the 1960s with Alice's Restaurant Massacree, an 18-minute talking blues song that proved he had the ability to tell a story through song much like his old man. The City Of New Orleans was another hit for Guthrie, its four minute duration a little friendlier to the general public and no doubt helping it get into the American Top 40. His other most popular song was Coming Into Los Angeles, it gaining huge popularity thanks to its inclusion in the Woodstock movie and soundtrack album.

The Port Fairy Folk Festival happens from Friday 8 March through to Monday 11; tickets went on sale this morning through the festival's website.
