The Strokes ProfileAre The Strokes planning on visiting Australia in 2027? They just might be, after a teaser was spotted in Brisbane yesterday (22 September).
A fan of the American rock band was walking through Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley yesterday when they found a billboard that read: “Reality Awaits – Australia 2027” and posted it on the band’s Reddit.
The font and bright red text are reminiscent of what The Strokes used when promoting their new album, Reality Awaits, released earlier this year. It’s also a strategy we’ve seen before official tour announcements arrived for the likes of Hayley Williams, Slayyyter, and System of a Down with Faith No More this year.
At the time of publication, no other teasers have been posted on social media. The band haven’t re-shared or posted anything about returning to Australia yet.

The Strokes co-headlined last year’s Harvest Rock Festival in Adelaide alongside country star Jelly Roll. However, they were exclusive to the event.
Before Harvest Rock, The Strokes last visited Australia for Splendour in the Grass – along with sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney – in 2022. Before then, they performed at the festival in 2016 and 2010 and embarked on headline dates in 2010.
Earlier this year, an exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Strokes’ iconic album, Is This It, landed in Sydney. Two definitive photographers who have accompanied the American rockers throughout their career, Cody Smyth and Colin Lane, were brought together for the exhibition.
“In January 2001 I got an assignment to shoot some band called The Strokes — I’d never heard of them, I was just happy to be shooting for The Face,” Lane said in a press release.
He continued, “We had a few beers at my apartment, then ended up on the roof of the Lincoln Building, 57 floors up, the Empire State Building lighting up behind them; it was just perfect. To this day I’m convinced that slightly illegal excursion is why they asked me to shoot the press photos for Is This It.
“I’m so happy to be sharing this exhibition with my friend Cody Smyth, who got there before me! Between the two of us, we probably have 90% of the best stuff ever shot on The Strokes. Long live The Strokes.”
The Strokes’ latest album, Reality Awaits, was released in July. The follow-up to 2020’s The New Abnormal was produced by Rick Rubin and preceded by the singles Going Shopping and Falling Out of Love. Upon its release, Reality Awaits debuted at #10 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
