Arcade Fire join Bon Iver, Lou Reed and Feist on Gabriel covers project
Having just revealed plans to drop their next album on October 29, Arcade Fire have now posted a preview of their Games Without Frontiers cover. The track will appear on the And I'll Scratch Yours album of Peter Gabriel covers to be released on September 29.
The album is a sequel to Gabriel's 2010 Scratch My Back set of covers. That album featured Gabriel covering Arcade Fire's My Body Is A Cage, along with reworkings of songs made famous by Bon Iver, Lou Reed, Magnetic Fields, Neil Young, David Bowie and Radiohead.
On his website, Gabriel has described the new album as a way to "create a new type of project." Gabriel added, "Artists communicated with each other and swapped a song for a song... hence the title."
So, also returning the favour - having been covered on the Gabriel album - are Bon Iver, Regina Spektor, David Byrne, Stephin Merritt (Magnetic Fields), Randy Newman, Elbow, Lou Reed and Paul Simon.

Bowie, Young and Radiohead were unable to participate but Brian Eno has stepped in for Bowie (Gabriel covered Heroes on his album, which Eno co-wrote). Filling in for the other absentees are Feist and Timber Timbre (tackling Don't Give Up) while Joseph Arthur is reworking Shock The Monkey.
Earlier this week, James Murphy spoke to Billboard about producing the new Arcade Fire album, refusing to comment on speculation about it being another concept album. "I dealt with the holistic record in a non-verbal way," dodged Murphy, "We don't talk about where the songs come from."
