APRA AMCOS Announces Mentors For Free Starting Ground Aboriginal Music Workshop

The perfect masterclass for up-and-coming musos

Following successful events in regional New South Wales, APRA AMCOS brings its free two-day skills development workshop, Starting Ground, for up-and-coming Aboriginal Songwriters to Redfern on 23 & 24 Jun.

Starting Ground is an opportunity for musicians in the Sydney region to develop their careers under the guidance of award-winning artists and music industry professionals. This event's mentors include Leah Flanagan, Brendon BoneyNeal Sutherland and Rob Scott.

Both singer-songwriter Flanagan and Boney, one-half of folk-pop duo Microwave Jenny, are APRA AMCOS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ambassadors. Music producer Sutherland has worked with acts like The Presets and Megan Washington and will give insight into music production. While Source Music's Rob will provide music industry insight.

The workshop is hands-on and will cover songwriting and live performance along with music production, business management, touring, radio and marketing.
