APRA AMCOS Announce Inaugural Art Music Fund Recipients For 2016

Twelve composers receive grants.

Twelve established and emerging composers across Australia and New Zealand have been awarded grants worth $100,000 in APRA AMCOS' inaugural Art Music Fund.

The successful applicants range form chamber music, electronics, non-Western music and jazz, while 45% are also female composers.

"We were thrilled to receive more than 100 applications for the first Art Music Fund," APRA Writer Board Member and composer Nigel Westlake said.

"Ten applications received funding, and the diversity of the recipients and their work highlights the innovative nature of the art music sector.

"It was fantastic to see women composers feature so prominently, and we look forward to seeing all of these new works reach audiences in Australasia and around the world."
