Are you a musician from Geelong? Do you want to be empowered by a group of artists, filmmakers, and mentors? Well, now’s the time to spring into action and apply for the upcoming edition of the GRID Series.
Returning after the completion of its most recent program earlier this year, the GRID (Grass Roots Indie Development) Series has announced its comeback for 2024/25, again searching for four artists or bands to participate in their intensive program.
The program provides these creatives with a number of major opportunites, including receiving one-on-one mentoring from industry experts, collaborating with acclaimed producers to create a new track, starring in an artist short film, and performing live across the Geelong region and beyond.
Applications for this year’s GRID Series are open now, and are open to Anyone over the age of 18 who lives, works, or creates in City of Greater Geelong, writes their own original music, and are able to bring a nominated ‘hype person’ to all of the program’s activities.

Applications close on October 2nd, with interviews and offers taking place across the following weeks. Mentoring, studio sessions, and film shoots will take place throughout November and December, with performance opportunities occurring throughout February and March, and a single launch party slated for late May.
“We are so thrilled to be returning to Geelong in 2024 for a second year,” said GRID Series’ co-founder Ariel Blum. “Last year we were overwhelmed by the number of artists who applied for our program, showing the richness and volume of incredible artistry from the region.
“To be able to offer these opportunities to Geelong musicians for a second time is a great honour, such is the breadth and depth of music being created and ready to be shared with the rest of the world.”
This year applicants will once again be in safe hands this year, with a raft of talented names involved in the process. Alongside mentors such as industry mainstays Sweetie Zamora and N’fa Forster-Jones; producers such as Joel Ma, Beatrice, and Anthony Liddell; and filmmakers like Emily Seif, Sam Biddle, and more are all on hand to offer their myriad insights.
Since the GRID Series launched, an impressive list of talented artists have had their creativity fostered by the program, including 2023/24 participants Baraka The Kid, Wild Gloriosa, Ridzyray, Daisy Kilbourne, and LENNi – all of which have been been named as part of Victoria’s ALWAYS LIVE series. Others who have been involved since its launch in 2013 include acclaimed artists such as Angie McMahon, Gordon Koang, and NIASHA.
“GRID Series to me is fostering community, and aiding in growth which is a really beautiful thing,” said Wild Gloriosa. “Everyone I met at GRID was just such a kind person, and kindness comes from the soul—we still all talk and catch up. It was such a boost to help my career when it was feeling unrealistic.
“This came along and showed me how I could and should be doing things.”
Applications for the 2024/25 GRID Series are open now, with full details available via the program’s official website.
