The end of an era as punters say goodbye to an icon, with a bit of help from Molly Meldrum
As Melbourne punters are no doubt aware by now, the Palace Theatre is not long for this world.
But, to ensure the esteemed venue goes out in fitting style, Saturday-night party institution Anyway has been given running duties of the Palace's final night in action on May 17.
It's been a long road to this point for the embattled Palace, but the Anyway team are pulling out all the stops to give it the send-off it deserves, not least of all by enlisting the help of one Molly Meldrum, who you may remember as the gentleman who officially opened the venue in 1987, but more likely you remember for his hat and general air of being rad.
While the final night at the Palace will no doubt be one for the history and/or Facebooks, not all is lost for Anyway itself – the beloved club night will be shuffling its way across to The Bottom End as of May 24.
