Alice In Chains vocalist William DuVall is reportedly working on a feature-length documentary which looks at the development of the hardcore scene in Atlanta, Georgia. The film is to be called "All Alone Together", and will spotlight two generations of hardcore kids from the early 1980s to the present day.
A post on the official Alice In Chains website reads as follows:
"What were the struggles confronting the first hardcore punks 30 years ago in the “Capitol of the Deep South”? How have the lessons they learned in the DIY culture of hardcore impacted their lives as adults? What does it mean to be a DIY punk kid now in the wake of major cultural shifts like the Internet, “mall punk”, the mainstream success of “pop-punk” bands, and the advent of punk as big business?
In February of 2008, an all-day concert event which united the old and new schools of Atlanta hardcore was held at the Treehouse, an all-ages DIY club in the suburb of Lawrenceville, GA. Newer bands from all over the southeast came to play and the concert was headlined by Atlanta punk legends Neon Christ, who came out of a 22 year retirement to play their final show ever. The sheer size and galvanizing energy of the teenaged crowd at the Treehouse was truly amazing. The underground DIY punk ethos was still alive and thriving in Atlanta. The new kids were keeping it real while making it their own, finding personal identity and community through the music just as the kids of Neon Christ’s generation had decades before. It is through this prism that the film examines one of the most vital youth cultures of this or any era."
Funding and support for the film's production is currently being sought via Kickstarter.
