Alice Cooper has kickstarted his campaign for the 2024 US Presidential Election, sharing a new video and website to accompany the move.

Before you get too concerned, the shock rocker has satirically run for President every four years since 1972, when he released the single Elected. In that song, Cooper sings, “I’m your top prime cut of meat, I’m your choice/ I wanna be elected/ I’m your Yankee doodle dandy in a gold Rolls Royce/ I wanna be elected.

76-year-old Cooper is the youngest out of the running current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Taking to social media, Cooper shared a dystopian-looking video where he says, “Well, I’m Alice Cooper, and I’m a troubled man for troubled times. I have absolutely no idea what to do, so I should fit right in.”

In addition to the satirical campaign video, Cooper encouraged fans to sign up for the website AliceForPresident.com to “receive updates on the campaign kick-off, ongoing virtual rallies, Q&A sessions, and more.” He also tells his fans to “stay informed, join the conversation”, and “be part of the movement”.

As Consequence Of Sound notes, Alice Cooper will soon embark on a US tour with Rob Zombie and special guests Ministry and Filter. So, if you want to see more of the Poison performer campaigning, stay tuned to his tour for more updates.

Earlier this year, Alice Cooper headlined the inaugural Pandemonium Rocks Festival. A one-stage event, the festival was hampered by cancellation reports, an altered line-up, and the late cancellation of  Palaye Royale due to a family emergency. However, despite the many news reports about the festival, Cooper rocked it.

In a review for The Music, writer Madison Thomas said of Cooper’s headlining set: “Alice Cooper wraps up the day with a deliciously over-the-top set, full of all the evil and bombast one would expect. Cooper stalks across the stage, menacing and divine all at once.

“After the insane lead-up to Pandemonium, seeing Cooper in the flesh serving up Schools OutPoison, and No More Mr Nice Guy makes it all worth it. The crowd throws themselves into the set and Cooper delivers in spades, with a cheeky brush with a guillotine to boot. It is rock n roll theatre of the highest calibre and wickedly enjoyable from start to finish.”
