'The mission of Gift Box has really been driven by a sisterhood of 'women supporting women', so to join forces with Ali Barter's powerful voice has been very exciting.'
Ali Barter is partnering with local charity Gift Box for her upcoming One Foot In tour to help some of Australia’s most in need women.
Founded by former Neighbours actress Saskia Hamplele, Gift Box is a one-for-one donation enterprise that sees one box of tampons given for every one purchased. Gift Box has partnered with social enterprises Share the Dignity, The Period Projects and Essentials for Women to help distribute the donations to some of the estimated 46,000 homeless women in Australia who are often deprived of basic sanitary care.
To mark her support of the charity, a limited run of locally-made tea towels - designed by illustrator and tattoo artist Lily Gloria - will be sold at each of Barter’s upcoming shows, with the donations going straight to Gift Box.
“We all get our damn periods so I love that if I buy a box of tampons from Gift Box Organic, it means someone more in need than me gets one too,” says Barter.
“It's important that all women have access to sanitary care, and tampons are, for many, non-negotiable.”

Hamplele is thrilled to have Barter contribute to such an important social issue.
"The mission of Gift Box has really been driven by a sisterhood of 'women supporting women', so to join forces with Ali Barter's powerful voice has been very exciting,” she says.
"Ali's generous contribution will not only provide many more homeless women with tampons, it also adds to the conversation of women's lack of access to sanitary products and will help reach a wider audience for this commonly overlooked issue."
You can catch Ali Barter around the country from mid-August, check TheGuide for more info. You can find out more about the Gift Box one-for-one donation project or make a donation via their website.
