There's a tonne of new music released every Friday and wading through it to find your next favourite album is an almost impossible task. 'The Music' team get it and we're here to help, bringing you our Album Of The Week each Friday. Here's why Primo!'s 'Sogni' gets our pick.
Primo!’s second record Sogni has dropped and without a doubt it’s our favourite thing we’ve heard all week.
Continuing the minimal DIY approach of their debut, Amici, Primo! take coarse textures and contrasting elements and arrange them with easy precision.
It makes for rich listening; you get the impression Primo! have left the polished face off their songs so that you can be entranced by the whir and click of the gears in their garage tinkering.
Amy Hill (bass), Suzanne Walker (drums), Violetta Del Conte-Race and Xanthe Waite (guitars) all share cool, composed vocals, the four enviably in sync as harmonies come and go, fall unhurriedly out of step, maybe meet up again later.
Together they find the quickest way to the middle of the everyday grind. Things like the odd realisation you're growing up as “Motherhood and other dreams/slowly come out of hiding” or chaffing at indifferent management ("You're a machine/Do you want to keep your job?").
Put all that together and you've got a clear-cut album of the week. It's out today through Anti Fade, give it a listen.

What they're saying...
To accompany the release (and given there won't be any launch shows for a while) Primo! have put together a message and an iso-friendly live video for their listeners. You can give both a look below.
"We cobbled together this video of us playing 'live' from our homes over the past week. It isn't actually live, but we recorded this version of Diamond Day in isolation via email and then filmed ourselves in the process. We hope you are all doing ok out there and staying safe and well. Our record Sogni is out today, we hope you enjoy listening to it, and we look forward to playing these songs live and seeing you all in the hopefully near future.
"Best wishes & love from Primo."
