Alanis Morrisette Musical To Hit Broadway In 2014

Isn't it ironic? Not really.

The smash hit 1996 album from Canadian pop-rock star Alanis Morrisette, Jagged Little Pill, is to be made into a musical to hit Broadway next year.

Playbill reports that the orchestrations and new arrangements for the material will be penned by Tom Kitt, who worked on the Green Day musical American Idiot, with fellow American Idiot alumni Vivek J. Tiwary, producing alongside Arvind Ethan David.

Speaking about the project, Morrisette says she looks forward to fleshing out some of the ideas and themes of the album, which she co-wrote with producer Glen Ballard.

“I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism," she said in a statement. “I look forward to collaborating with Vivek and Tom and our whole inspiring team to create something greater than the sum of our parts.”

The record has sold a stupid number of copies since its release 18 years ago, almost a million copies have been sold in Australia and well over 30 million sold worldwide.

Here's a refresher in case you somehow forgot what it sounds like.
