Her new single was "inspired by a very evil, manipulative person"
South Australian chanteuse Mane (aka Paige Renee Court) has unveiled the new single from her forthcoming debut EP, House of Horror, before she hits the road in July.
The new track, Bitter, is a haunting marriage of pop and blues influences, with a driving percussive force and intricate production values. As Court explains, the song is a venomous reminder to stay away from the bad side of a good songwriter.
"Bitter was inspired by a very evil, manipulative person — someone who was once very close to a family member of mine," Court says. "I usually only write songs that are personal to me, but this song became an exception that flowed out onto the page of my songbook within a matter of minutes. If I'm totally honest, it's probably too nice of a song for this particular person, knowing what I know now."
The House of Horror EP was produced by Jack Hookey (Harry Hookey, Imogen Clark), and promises to be a soulful journey through the human experience in her signature brand of blues-inspired popular music.
