Unconfirmed reports that his fiancé is really pissed off…
An Adelaide musician has been arrested on his wedding day after the reverend, alleging that the groom was drunk, refused to continue with the ceremony.
South Australian Police reports confirm that a 40-year-old man was arrested at about 2pm on Saturday 22 February at a church in the western suburbs' Semaphore. He was charged with disorderly behaviour and resisting arrest.
According to the Adelaide Advertiser that man was musician and poet Jacob Brookes, who has since denied being drunk. He said that the decision of Reverend Ian Hunter was an “overreaction” - but the Minister is standing by his call.
The situation, which took place before the bride-to-be turned up but while approximately 120 guests were showing up, became heated when Brookes was told that the Minister was refusing to go ahead with the ceremony on ethical grounds. The resulting argument prompted the call to police.

Speaking to Channel Ten News Brookes said, “I've been dreaming for days and days and days about her beautiful wedding dress and [to] see her walking down the aisle… All I needed was my woman to feel like she was the Queen of the day.”
And despite Brookes admitting that in his Port Adelaide Police Station cell “All I could think about was my woman,” Ten reported that his partner said there was “no chance” of reconciliation.
Brookes is expected to appear at Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date. It is understood that he was working on a new EP late last year.
