EarthGang recently released a new song titled Bobby Boucher - inspired by one of Adam Sandler’s most popular characters from the 1998 comedy flick The Waterboy - and it looks like they’ve received the stamp of approval from Sandler himself.

For those who haven’t seen one of Sandler’s finest comedic works, The Waterboy sees Sandler portray Bobby Boucher, a mentally challenged water boy for a college football team who goes on to become the team’s star player.

On Friday (June 7), the Dreamville duo joined forces with Benji. and Spillage Village to release an ode to the film in the form of the track Bobby Boucher, which caught the attention of Sandler who seemingly vibed on the track.

Retweeting the video clip posted by EarthGang, the actor captioned it: “Yo EARTHGANG! Singing along with you! Love, Bobby B.”

the group understandably lost their shit over the nod from Mr. Boucher himself, with WowGr8 of the group reposting it to their personal Instagram page, writing, “Holy sh*t. Holy sh*t. Holy sh*t. This is one of the best things that could happen for this video! EarthGang’s ‘Bobby Boucher’ video is out now! I can’t believe Adam Sandler saw this! I studied him intently for the treatment and execution of this video.”

The Caleb Seales-directed music video for the track recreates some of the most iconic moments from the film, including the football team’s signature orange uniforms, Bobby’s out-there coach, Coach Klein (played originally by Henry Winkler), and Bobby’s overprotective mother.

The track also features lyrics that reference the iconic film, including the chorus: “Luck be my lady, I’m up a couple thousand / Playin’ roulette like Bobby Boucher / Wa-wa-water on a Tuesday for all this D’Ussé / I surely feel like I’m drunk / I probably drink the Kool-Aid, that sh*t be packin’ a punch / It’s like a jab to the face, I’m probably not gettin’ enough.”

As per HipHopDX, the new single marks the Atlanta duo’s first release since 2022’s GHETTO GODS and is their first independent release with Sincethe80s x Dreamville.

Bobby Boucher is set to appear on EarthGang’s upcoming project EarthGang vs the Algorithm: RIP Human Art, which is set to drop on July 28.
