Jennifer Collins leaves for production company

Jennifer Collins, the Head Of Entertainment at ABC TV, has resigned from her post at the public broadcaster to join an independent production company.

In her current role, which she'll leave next month, Collins has been responsible for shows such as Gruen Nation, Gruen Sweat, Adam Hills Tonight, The Chaser Decides and The Agony Of Life amongst others. Previously the Head Of Factual, she commissioned the successful The Checkout series.

She will become Head Of Non-Fiction at Screetime, the company behind shows including Nine's Underbelly Squizzy, Foxtel's Outback Coroner and the ABC's Anzac Girls.

She was appointed to the Entertainment role in April 2012.

“Across all the roles I've taken up at the ABC over the years, I've never underestimated the privilege of working for the public broadcaster,” Collins said. “I've had an extraordinary career at the ABC, enriched by the quality of the creative teams and colleagues both from within and outside the organisation. Personally it has been both rewarding and satisfying and I've been immensely proud of the shows I've been able to offer up to Australian audiences.”

The ABC's Director Of Television Richard Finlayson is now actively looking for a replacement, with Sophia Zacharious an interim replacement.

“Jen is not only a longstanding and much-loved member of the ABC TV team, she has been one of its strongest creative forces,” said Finlayson. “She leaves a great legacy at the ABC; a stable of iconic entertainment brands and outstanding Australian talent.”
